FERRAN GOOD SHOW ON THEIR KNEES

- BY DAVID McDONNELL

FERRAN TORRES says he is confident he can maintain his free-scoring form for Manchester City.

Torres, a £21million summer signing from Valencia, has scored three goals in as many Champions League games for City, as well as a hat-trick for Spain last week.

The winger has played through the middle for City, in the absence of Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus, both of whom are now back from injury.

Although Torres is likely to be restored to his more familiar position out wide, the 20-year-old said he is happy to play through the middle for City if required.

“Obviously playing as striker is not my natural position, but

I feel very comfortable playing there,” said Torres

“I’m also scoring goals so it’s good. I think when you work hard and make sacrifices for the team, you get the rewards. So

I’m just trying to work hard to keep scoring goals.”

Boss Pep Guardiola said: “I’m more than satisfied with the performances on the pitch, but especially with how he’s settled in the locker room.

“He’s an incredibly humble guy. He didn’t come and go straight for the guys with a lot of prestige or the well-known names. He remained like we knew he was and we’re more than delighted with him, both on and off the pitch.”
