Get well and keep on fighting, Brian

-

I was very sorry to read about Brian Reade’s recent experience of prostate cancer (Mirror, November 28) and sincerely hope he makes a full recovery and continues to ‘tell it like it is’ in his Mirror column.

I fully agree with Brian’s comments about the NHS being the greatest asset this country has – even though, as he says, it is far from perfect. I do wish the people of this country would shake themselves out of their apathy and realise the real danger this great institution is in under this current Tory Government.

Finally, as an Everton fan, I can’t wholeheartedly wish Brian’s team success, but I do hope he continues his mission to tell the truth to people who seem not to want to listen. Good luck to my favourite journalist – and hope you stay well!

Like Brian Reade my life has also been saved by our brilliant NHS, twice in two years, in fact. I was treated for an ulcerated colon and spent three weeks in hospital losing a third of my body weight. This was followed two years later by a heart attack and another 10 days in hospital. Without the NHS I would have certainly died as no way could I have paid for either treatment. Successive Tory governments have tried to undermine our NHS and this is why we need people such as Brian to fight our corner. I wish him a speedy recovery so that he can continue the fight.

I couldn’t agree more wholeheartedly with Brian Reade’s sentiments about our amazing NHS. We are a nation of sheep, flocking onto the streets to catch a glimpse of some royal or other and yet we only ever seem to give the NHS credit after they have provided what is all too often life-saving care.

Surely, as a nation it is time to re-evaluate our priorities. It’s good to hear that Brian’s procedure went well and I send him best wishes for the follow-up.

Please pass on my best wishes to Brian Reade. I loved his comments about the NHS. My daughter is a nursing specialist in Leeds and I worry every day when she is at work during this pandemic.

But as Brian said, it is what they do.

I wish Brian a speedy recovery and hopefully

in six weeks’ time there will be fantastic news.

Brian Reade’s column on his recent experience of the NHS was spot on as usual. What a lot of incompetent Tories we have running this country during the biggest crisis since the Second World War. I hope Brian is back to full fitness in no time.

I was shocked to read Brian Reade had been in hospital having treatment for cancer and want to wish him well. I enjoy reading – and chuckling – at Brian’s articles and look forward to reading many more about the things that matter to the UK, such as our NHS.
