A plummy tone is the accent people can listen to for longest, the Irish accent is most attractive while a Brummie dialect is the most boring.

TV naturalist David, inset, was named the “best voice” in the survey of 2,000 people to launch a voice- activated Virgin TV 360 platform.

More than a third also admitted they became “posher” when talking on their smart devices.

Jennifer Smith, professor of sociolinguistics at the University of Glasgow, said this “tech tongue” made us talk “slower, more clearly, and even quite posh”.
