CADIZ PILE ON MISERY FOR RONALD

- BY JON WEST

BARCELONA’S chaotic season took another unexpected twist when they were humbled by tiny Cadiz.

Former Manchester City striker Alvaro Negredo scored the winner as Barca went down 2-1.

It was Cadiz’s first top-flight home win since 2006 – and their first win against the Catalan giants in La Liga since 1991.

Barca boss Ronald Koeman – who played in that 1991 game – has now lost four of his last seven league matches, one more than previous manager Quique Setien suffered in his entire reign.

“It’s a giant step backwards to be able to compete for La Liga,” said former Southampton and Everton chief Koeman. “I’m very disappointed.

“If we do not improve the attitude away from home, there is nothing else to say.”

Sub Negredo, 35, had only been on the pitch for 44 seconds when he closed down keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen and rounded Frenkie de Jong to tap into an empty net.

Alvaro Gimenez had put Cadiz in front before an own goal from Pedro Alcala brought Barca level.

The loss left Koeman’s side in ninth spot, four points behind Cadiz, who have 18 points.

Real Madrid shrugged off successive losses to Alaves in La Liga and Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League to win 1-0 at Sevilla.

A shot from Vinicius Jr that went in off keeper Yassine Bounou for an own goal turned out to be just enough for Zinedine Zidane’s side.

Kylian Mbappe scored his 100th Paris Saint-Germain goal as the Ligue 1 leaders won 3-1 at Montpellier.

Romelu Lukaku netted his 17th goal in 18 games for club and country as Inter Milan beat Bologna 3-1 in Italy’s Serie A.
