WILDER BARBS DON’T MAKE US FEEL LOWE
St Mary’s: Tomorrow, 12 noon
SHEFFIELD UNITED’S Max Lowe claims honesty is the best policy – even if Chris Wilder can be brutal.
No manager is more forthright than Wilder and he will criticise his players if they make a mistake.
When Leicester scored a 90th-minute winner to push the Blades deeper into relegation trouble, Wilder claimed they should have shown better decisionmaking to prevent the goal.
Defender Lowe claims the squad appreciates Wilder’s bluntness because they know he will always be truthful.
“I’ve worked with a lot of managers so far, but I feel he’s the most brutally honest of them all,” said Lowe (above right).
“That can only benefit you as an individual. You instantly have that honest relationship with him, so you believe in what he wants you to do.
“You’re dug out when you do something wrong and get praise when you do something right. It’s as simple as that and the gaffer never changes.
“What he said after the game on Sunday was spot on. We knew that before he said it. We’re an honest group of lads. We’ll take on board whatever the gaffer says and move forward.”
Ralph Hasenhuttl claims he is not scared of losing players in the January window – even Danny Ings.
Ings, who could return to Southampton’s starting XI at St Mary’s, is widely expected to sign a new contract. But manager Hasenhuttl said: “The offer we made him is fantastic
“But I’m never scared of any transfer window, because there are other players waiting to play in this team. We’ve shown in the past we can lose captains or strikers, and still get better.”
