Let’s do this together

-

I literally bubbled with my best pal Ali on Friday night when we cracked open a bottle of champers to celebrate… er…something. It didn’t matter what, it was just so brilliant to drink and be merry with my friend.

The Dark Lord was not impressed and tells me that me and her godmother were making a lot of noise, and not all of it entirely human. “It sounds like a donkey braying when Ali laughs, and you sounded like a seal barking,” she said witheringly the next morning.

Anyway, while suffering alcohol remorse, I came across this very important research by Vin Crowd, who asked 2,000 Brits about their drinking habits.

Bearing in mind everyone lies about how much they drink and – ask any GP and they’ll tell you that they secretly treble the figure you give for units drunk a week – in this may need to be taken with a pinch of salt. Or two paracetamol like me.

The drinks’ firm got psychologist Lee Chambers to reveal exactly what your alcohol drinking habit says about you:

The Loyalist – same drink and daily or weekly routine

Not willing to conform to the latest trend. Prefers process over people and want things to be done the right way, are never the most creative.

The tippler celebrates the small wins. They tend to cherish life’s little moments and are often mindful of others and tend to be happy-go-lucky.

The Mixologist – only cocktails will do Likes to look good while drinking and thrive on attention. They are natural risk-takers and appear confident but behind their bluecoloured drink, they’re selfconscious.

They don’t care for tradition, and value individuality highly. They often rebel against societal norms because they feel suppressed in other areas of life.

The Flirter – never the same drink twice

Embracing their desires, they’re continually experimenting and searching for something off the beaten track. They are very decisive but are easily swayed.

Needs to share their views and be externally validated. They love to share a story, even if half of it is fiction. Also likely to disappear when it’s their round!

The quiet one… until a big event. The compassionate type who puts others first, and finally gets to unleash their fiery side. Reliable and loyal the rest of the time.

The Expert – the beer buffs and wine snobs The Celebrator – lashed on special occasions

I’d probably describe myself as a lethal cocktail mix of Tippler and Loyalist given my usual preference for Chateau L’Plonk.

The majority of those surveyed (31%) are also Loyalists, and we’re described as not particularly creative, always reliable and will meet a deadline. Which is probably why you’re reading this and not a blank white page in the paper…

Which one are you? Send me tales of your best celebrations and remind us what a night out looks like again. Email me at siobhan.mcnally@ mirror.co.uk or write to Community Corner, PO Box 791, Winchester SO23 3RP.
