-

BORUSSIA DORTMUND yesterday announced boss Lucien Favre had seen sacked following a 5-1 home drubbing by STUTTGART.

Dortmund chairman Hans-Joachim Watzke said: “We’re all grateful for his excellent work over the past two-and-a-half years, in which he and his team won two runner-up championships.”

Former West Ham coach Edin Terzic has taken over until the end of the season.

The shock defeat to a newly-promoted side was Dortmund’s third in five Bundesliga games. It left them fifth in the table and six points behind leaders

BAYER LEVERKUSEN, who yesterday thrashed nine-man HOFFENHEIM 4-1.

Favre (above) - known as The Brain - had been in charge since leaving French club Nice in July 2018.

Terzic, 38, was part of Slaven Bilic’s backroom staff at the Hammers from 2015 to 2017 having worked under him at Besiktas.

INTER MILAN bounced back from their midweek Champions League group stage exit with a 3-1 win at CAGLIARI.

Romelu Lukaku grabbed the third goal in a game Inter had been losing until the 77th minute.

Edin Dzeko and Henrikh Mkhitaryan were on target in a 5-1 win for ROMA at

BOLOGNA, with all six goals coming before half-time.

JUVENTUS extended their unbeaten run to 11 games with a 3-1 win at GENOA. Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals, both of them penalties

REAL SOCIEDAD took advantage of ATLETICO MADRID’S 2-0 defeat at REAL MADRID on Saturday to reclaim top spot in La Liga. But a 1-1 draw with EIBAR meant they did so only by virtue of goals scored and have played two games more than Atletico.

Real moved to within three points of the top by ending Atletico’s 26-game unbeaten run in the league.
