THE BOURNE IDENTITY

Cook: It’s just like the year we went up to Prem

- BY TOM HOPKINSON

STEVE COOK reckons Bournemouth showed the same ruthless streak against Huddersfield that saw them promoted from the Championship five years ago.

Two early goals from Dominic Solanke put the home side in control before David Brooks, Junior Stanislas and Sam Surridge ( celebrating with team-mates, top) settled matters.

The win lifted Jason Tindall (right) and his side to second and took them to 34 goals for the season – six more than Reading, who have the second-best tally in the second tier.

Cook said:

“It was the

Bournemouth h of f old. ld Th The l last time we were in this division, we put teams to the sword, and our goal difference so far is superior to everyone else’s. That might be the difference.

“When you score such early goals it gives you that licence to go again.

“Huddersfield had to come out a little bit and try to show something and – in the end – we picked them off.

“We’re ful l of confidence. It was a good draw away at Swansea in midweek and a fantastic win against Huddersfield.”

Cook was thrilled for Solanke ( netting the Cherries’ first, above), whose goals took him to eight for the season and six in seven games.

The defender said: “With Dom, he’s not only a goalscorer, his football f ll ability b l is unbelievable. b l bl His touch, like for Brooksy’s goal, shows he has ability to bring the ball down and bring other players into play.

“His work-rate is second to none and, against Huddersfield, he has shown how ruthless he can be. We’ve seen it for a long, long time. Obviously, football is all about confidence and that weighed on hi s shoulders a little bit.

“But you could see against Leicester ( back in July), when he got his first competitive goal for the club, he was a new player.

“And ever since then he has reaped the rewards and he’s great to have around. I’m really pleased for him and we’re very lucky to have him. He has plenty more to give. He’s still very young and is a hell of a talent.”

For the Terriers, this was an eighth defeat f of fh the e season. Boss Carlos Corberan said: id: “We turn it around by first of all taking responsibility.

“All my decisions ns I need to analyse. I am the coach, I am responsible now to find the problem and to find d the solution.

“We need to find which players we can be competitive titive with in the Championship.” .” BOURNEMOUTH: Begovic govic 7,
