LAUGHS With host Michael
McIntyre’s show only landed on our screens last month and has already reached the heady heights of kickstarting BBC1’s primetime Christmas Day fare.
It involves seven celebs helping contestants to win cash through specialist subjects on a spinning wheel.
In this special, Holly Willoughby, Alan Carr and Oti Mabuse are contestants, competing for charity, with help from Alexander Armstrong, Clare Balding, Howard Donald, Kate Bottley, Ainsley Harriott, Olly Smith and Christopher Biggins. It’s all, er, wheely good fun.
We’ve been promised a slightly different Christmas special from Nonnatus House this year.
Stephen McGann, who plays Dr Patrick Turner, says: “It’s an interesting episode. We try to give a bit of hope, a little bit of sparkle.”
In the 90-minute episode, it’s 1965 and the circus comes to Poplar – watch out for Doctor Who icon Peter Davison as the ringmaster.
Meanwhile, a delighted Shelagh (Laura Main) has a surprise reunion, there are fears for Sister Monica Joan’s health (Judy Parfitt) and Trixie (Helen George) receives a rage-inducing gift.
