644 GOALS... AND THE BEERS ARE ON MESSI

- BY KEITH WEBSTER

LIONEL MESSI has sent a group of Premier League keepers souvenir beer bottles to help celebrate his record 644 club goals for Barcelona.

The Argentina forward passed Pele’s record for most goals at one club earlier this month against Real Valladolid.

And to mark the occasion, Budweiser decided to craft special bottles to present to each of the 160 keepers the little magician has beaten in his Nou Camp career.

Each of them received one bottle for every goal conceded, with the label displaying what number of career goal it was for Messi.

That meant that

Brazilian Diego Alves, who spent 10 years in La Liga with Almeria and Valencia, received 21 of them as the man Messi has punished most often.

Former Real Madrid star Iker Casillas was third on the hit-list with 17 concessions to Messi in their El Clasico showdowns. Manchester

United’s David De Gea received six bottles and Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris got three. Edwin van der Sar, Liverpool’s Alisson, Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga and former England No.1 Joe Hart were all handed two apiece.

Italian great Gianluigi Buffon received his two bottles in good spirit.

He tweeted: “Thanks for the beers. I’ll take it as a compliment.

“We have great battles over the years! Congratulations on breaking the 644 record #Messi! It really is an unbelievable achievement. Cheers!”
