QUESTION OF FIREPOWER FOR WARBO

- BY STEVE JUDGE MATT GRIMES

MARK WARBURTON is full of questions as he bids to end QPR’s goalscoring woes after defeat to Swansea made it eight games without a win.

The most immediate poser for the Hoops chief is whether he can trust strikers Lyndon Dykes and Macauley Bonne to come up with the goods.

Both arrived in the last transfer window to help fill a 40-goal hole created by the departures of Jordan Hugill, Nahki Wells and Eberechi Eze.

But Rangers have now drawn a blank in all three games the two hitmen have started together.

Bonne has not netted for 11 games and was guilty of missing clear chances before Andre Ayew’s opener, and after Jamal Lowe (above) celebrated his 54th-minute clincher.

Warburton said: “How do you help them? Do you bring in another striker so they don’t play, and watch and learn?

“Do you let them keep playing and go with the game as the best teacher? We are not in a position to splash the cash. Maybe the loan market, we will look at what options are available.”

Steven Cooper had the luxury of seeing both his strikers find the back of the net.

Ayew headed in after former Rangers full-back Jake Bidwell saw his header deflected on to a post by Yoann Barbet.

Lowe raced on to Matt Grimes’ defence-splitting pass to net in back-to-back games for the first time since moving to the Liberty Stadium from Wigan in August.

Swans boss Cooper said: “It was a brilliant goal. He made it look a lot easier than what it was.”
