The Truth About Getting Fit At Home, BBC1

T★★★ he BBC went for an interesting choice of opening music to accompany this look at the recent boom in home exercising.

Don’t get me wrong, Dua Lipa’s hit Physical is a cracking tune. But I’ve listened to it many times and read the lyrics, and when Dua tells her lover “Let’s get physical” I’m fairly sure she’s not suggesting they do a quick Joe Wicks workout or Bootcamp Pilates class together.

Dubious musical choices aside, this was an interesting sift through the many different ways we can get fitter without having to splash out on fancy equipment or expensive gym memberships (not that we can go to the gym at the moment anyway.)

Presenter Mehreen Baig certainly

appeared to know her stuff and did a neat line in making the science bits more accessible.

She also looked the part, which may or may not have been a good thing. Some viewers may have been inspired to get active by the sight of Mehreen and several other fitness bloggers in various Lycra outfits.

Others may have simply thought, “Sod this – I’ll never look

like that” and shoved another leftover Christmas chocolate in their mouth.

I won’t say which camp I was in, but if someone doesn’t clear up the mountain of After Eight wrappers in my living room soon I could well end up starring in the next series of Britain’s Biggest Hoarders by mistake.

No, I don’t know why we buy them in the first place either.
