OLE: NOW WE’RE THE HUNTERS

- BY DAVID McDONNELL

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER says Manchester United are “hunters” ready to chase down Liverpool and take their Premier League title.

United go into tomorrow’s Anfield clash top of the table, three points ahead of the Reds and looking to further underline their push for a first title since 2013.

Solskjaer, who won seven titles playing with United, said his side are ready to take the fight to Jurgen Klopp’s men.

“We’re the challengers, they’re the champions,” said Solskjaer. “We’re the hunters who want something they have.

“I’d rather be on top and have the points than be chasing, but we’re the hunters chasing the champions over the course of a long season.

“They’ve got the cup, they’re the champions, the ones everyone would like to beat and my players are the same.

“They’ve got an amazing record at Anfield in the league. They haven’t lost there for many, many years so it’s a great test for us.”

Liverpool have not lost at home in the league since April 2017 – 67 games – which is why Solskjaer claimed it would be a major upset if United can win.

“If you look at the last few seasons, I think it would be an upset and it would be a shock,” said Solskajer. “Our position at the moment is a product of all the hard work we’ve done on the training ground and we probably deserve to be where we’re at.

“So we’re looking forward to the game and hoping we can cause that upset. But we know we have to perform to our best and it’s a test and reality check of where we’re at.”

Anthony Martial, (hamstring) is a major doubt for United.
