LEEDS BRIGHTON OLD BOY BEN’S ON MISSION TO MASTER LEEDS
Elland Road: 3pm
GRAHAM POTTER insists Brighton are playing better than last year but just not getting the results.
Brighton sit one place above the relegation danger zone as they head to Leeds today desperate to pick up points.
But they earned praise for their performance even in defeat at Manchester City in midweek.
And Seagulls boss Potter said: “We’ve had 18 games now and, apart from one game and a half, our performance levels have been better than last year. But the problem is that results haven’t followed.
“You can talk about performance, but we know we are on the right path, we are fighting for each other and we will keep moving forward.”
Brighton defender Ben White (above, with Kevin De Bruyne) has been one of the club’s major plus points this season.
White, 23, had a year on loan at Leeds and impressed them so much they wanted to buy him, with Tottenham and Liverpool also looking at a player being tipped as an England international.
But Potter says White, who also had a loan spell at Newport earlier in his career, is now fully focused on helping Brighton stay up, having knocked Newport out of the FA Cup last Sunday.
Potter said: “It’s a week where he’s going back to two of his old clubs and he can be proud of his time there because he helped them, they helped him and it was the perfect loan.
“He speaks highly of everything at Leeds and is very respectful of how they helped him and how they progressed his career.
“It was a fantastic time for him but he’s our player now and I am sure he will want to get the points against them.”
