Johnson fits the bill with record score

- By Keith Webster

Taron Johnson scored a play-offrecord 101-yard touchdown as Buffalo moved to within one game of the super Bowl.

The Bills led 10-3 late in the third quarter when, with Baltimore threatening to level the scores, ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was intercepted in the end zone by cornerback Johnson.

From a yard behind his own goal line, Johnson raced the length of the field in 12 seconds for the clinching touchdown, handing Buffalo a 17-3 lead and passage into next sunday’s semi-finals.

after his game-clinching moment, Johnson said: “I caught the ball and I looked down but then I looked up and I just saw a whole bunch of green grass to the right side.

“I figured if I could race over there, I didn’t see nobody outside me, so I felt like I could take it.

“Defensively, I’m proud of our guys. We stepped up to the challenge. But it’s not done yet. We’re trying to get to the big show.”

Bills quarterback Josh allen had a below-par day but said: “It’s the play-offs. you win or go home and our team found a way. our defence stepped up and Taron Johnson made the play that changed the game. Unbelievable.

“It was one of those plays that will be remembered for a really long time.

“offensively, we have to do a better job. That’s play-off football. It doesn’t matter how it looks. you either get it done or you don’t.”

aaron rodgers (above) handed an assist to the crowd after leading Green Bay to the semi-finals.

rodgers threw two touchdown passes and ran for another touchdown as the Packers beat the Los angeles rams 32-18.

But the Green Bay quarterback said having a live crowd at Lambeau Field made all the difference to how the team performed.

“It’s special,” said rodgers after the Packers sealed victory in front of 7,439 who braved cold and snow flurries. “There’s absolutely nothing like it. We have really missed that part of this experience. so to run out of the tunnel with fans was unbelievable.

“It’s hard to explain how much the presence means on the field and just having that energy from the crowd.

“Being able to play in front of them, to hear the chants, to hear them banging the boards they got was really special.”
