COOK: WE JUST HAVEN’T BEEN CHERRY GOOD

- BY TOM PRENTKI

BOURNEMOUTH captain Steve Cook has urged team-mates to put a “bad week” behind them – starting at Derby tomorrow night.

This defeat came on the back of a 1-1 draw with Millwall in midweek. The Cherries played for more than an hour against Luton with 10 men following Jefferson Lerma’s red card.

And Cook said: “Ultimately, it’s been a bad week for the club, but we’re just over halfway now and need to get points on the board on Tuesday night at Derby.

“It’s another tough game – we have to go there, impose ourselves and get back to winning ways.

Jason Tindall’s Cherries side have slipped four points off the automatic promotion places.

He said: “The frustrating thing is the losses that we’ve had, bar the Brentford game where I thought we should’ve won, are against teams that are in the bottom half of the league.

“And we’re dropping too many points at home now, so we’ve got a lot to put right.”

Victory through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall’s second-half winner at the Vitality Stadium lifted Luton into the top half of the table, seven points off the play-offs.

Captain Sonny Bradley is desperate to see the transfer window shut to ensure the Hatters can keep hold of on-loan Leicester youngster Dewsbury-Hall (above).

“I’d like to get past this window and then hopefully we can keep him for the rest of the season,” said Bradley.

“If we lost him, it would be a big blow because, for me, he’s been our player of the season so far.”
