Hunt for serial knife attacker
One dead, two hurt in week of stabbings
FAMILIES are living in fear after a killer stabbed three men in random attacks in their area within a week.
Delivery driver Leon Street, 48, was repeatedly knifed in the chest yards from his front door, on Monday, January 11.
Mr Street, a father and step-grandad, managed to stagger to the house he shared with his fiancée, in Neasden, North West London, but died at the scene.
Ten minutes earlier a 47-year-old was stabbed near a bus stop a few yards away. He was rushed to hospital then discharged.
The third victim, in his 30s, was stabbed nearby, at 9.30am on Sunday.
Locals said he staggered hundreds of yards, before being helped. His condition is not life-threatening.
A kitchen knife was found in a nearby park and detectives suspect the killer is local and lay in wait for his victims.
Extra officers are patrolling amid fears he may strike again.
Mum-of-one Rafiza Chowdhury, who
lives opposite Mr Street’s home, said he and his fiancée were “very good people”.
The Sainsbury’s worker, 32, said: “Two people took him out of the house in a wheelchair and laid him on the bed and operated. We didn’t sleep for two nights. We are so scared.”
Police say the suspect is white and aged around 30. He was wearing a dark jacket during the attacks.
None of the victims were robbed and the knifeman said nothing “significant”.
Michael Curry, 62, said Sunday’s victim “bumped into” his friend with blood pouring out of his chest”.
“It’s scary. The police said it’s the same guy doing it.
He’s out there so everybody is afraid. You could be walking along and he might just come up behind and stab you.”
Det Chief Insp Tom Williams believes a “lone male” carried out all the attacks.
The 47-year-old victim and a 33-yearold man, who were arrested on January 11, were released without further action.
