Kim files for £1.6bn divorce
Reality star splits from rapper after 6yr marriage
KIM Kardashian has filed for divorce from Kanye West, sparking a battle over their property empire.
The pair, said to be worth £1.6billion between them, have been married for six years.
An insider said: “It’s very sad, although they have struggled now for several months.
“They tried to make it work but it just wasn’t to be. They have grown apart.”
US reality TV star Kim, 40, wants joint custody of their four children, which rapper Kanye, 43, is agreeable to, sources say.
They have a prenuptial agreement in place, meaning the only real issue would be how their property portfolio is divided.
Kim, best known for reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians, had not recently been seen wearing her £1million wedding ring.
Kanye spent Christmas at his £10m ranch in the state of Wyoming, away from Kim’s family in California.
According to business magazine Forbes, he is worth around £952m with Kim valued at about £660m.
Most of Kanye’s wealth comes from his Yeezy clothing brand in partnership with Adidas. He also boasts millions in properties.
Kim’s beauty line KKW is also very lucrative. Sources say she has “grown up a lot” in the past year and wants to pursue a
legal
career. It is said Kanye became “irritated by the Kardashians’ over-the-top reality star lives”.
In July last year, he claimed he had been trying to divorce Kim since she met rapper Meek Mill at a hotel two years ago. Sources previously said Kim and Kanye had “daily bustups” during lockdown.
The pair, who began dating in 2012, were said to be living at opposite ends of their LA compound before Kanye moved to Wyoming.
They had a tough 2020 as he ran for president.
In a tearful speech, he claimed he stopped Kim aborting their first child. Kim, who has been married twice before, discussed Kanye’s bipolar disorder on social media and asked fans for “compassion”.
Weeks later a source said: “She’s trying to decide what to do to protect the kids [and] her sanity.”
Representatives for the couple did not immediately respond to the Mirror’s request for comment.

INSIDER TALKS ABOUT MARRIAGE BREAKDOWN
MARS probe Perseverance is just six feet from touchdown in this dramatic shot released yesterday.
The lander’s shadow is etched on the planet’ s surface as its 300 million-mile journey comes to a triumphant end.
Another picture, taken by an orbiting satellite, shows the US probe descending on the Britishmade parachute which helped slow it from 12,000 to just 1.7mph. Al Chen, of NASA’s descent and landing team, said the importance of the 70ft chute made by Heathcoat Fabrics in Tiverton, Devon, could not be underestimated. Around 100 people worked on the special material which helped the lander survive “seven minutes of terror” after it entered the Mars atmosphere.
Ground controllers in Pasadena, California, revealed they had an agonising 11-minute wait while radio signals confirming the safe landing travelled the huge distance across space.
Yesterday the probe’s six-wheeled rover was continuing tests while microphones were recording surface sounds.
Tomorrow unprecedented high definition 3 D images will start being streamed back to Earth.
