Tempers rise at passion in garden shed

New law may help the hunt for lad’s body

- BY KEITH PERRY

A COUNCILLOR is facing complaints about the sound of his son allegedly having sex in one of three sheds he built in his garden without permission.

Brian Ayling, 75, erected the wooden outbuildings last year and allowed his son Luke, 33, to move into the largest one.

Residents complained they could hear him having sex with his girlfriend.

Mr Ayling was refused retrospective planning consent after councillors ruled they were being used as a “habitual” residence in Southend-on-Sea, Essex.

One neighbour told the committee: “Sitting in my garden, I have to listen to them participating in sexual activities.”

The independent councillor, who said his son has moved to a cabin 20ft from the garden boundary, said: “I don’t think sex with consenting adults is a crime.”

THE secrets of Ian Brady’s locked briefcases could finally be revealed due to a proposed law change.

The family of murdered 12-year-old Keith Bennett hope it will lead to the schoolboy’s body finally being found so they can get “some closure”.

Brady had closely guarded the Samsonite briefcases in his room at the high-security psychiatric hospital where he was held for decades.

But hours before his death aged 79 in 2017, he gave instructions for them to be handed to his solicitor.

Police have since been unable to gain access to their contents.

Keith was one of five children, aged 10 to 17, killed by the Moors Murderers – Brady and Myra Hindley – between 1963 and 1965 in and around Manchester.

It is thought Keith was buried on nearby Saddleworth Moor along with other victims. His are the only remains never to have been found. His mum Winnie Johnson died aged 78 in 2012 after a long campaign to try to force Brady to reveal where Keith was buried.

Keith’s brother Alan spoke with Home Secretary Priti Patel this week.

She revealed plans for a new Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts bill, which would introduce measures allowing detectives to obtain a warrant for material that could disclose the location of a murder victim’s remains.

It would mean Brady’s solicitor would have to hand over the briefcases and their contents.

Alan, 64, said: “Fingers crossed the bill will be

passed as soon as possible and we may get some more answers.”

His solicitor John Ainley said: “These papers [in the briefcases] may not mean anything to anybody else but because Alan and the police have a lot of background information there may be something which is meaningful to them and would help to identify the area.

“It would hopefully result in a further search and give some closure to the family. Hopefully Keith can be found and given a proper family burial.” Brady, who was held at Ashworth Hospital in Maghull, Merseyside, suggested that clues about where Keith is buried may be in his will, which has never been published. Hindley died aged 60 in 2002.

Our Robert is working extra hard after launching The Savage Foundation to provide free coaching for kids at Macclesfield FC.

He knows it was difficult for us to buy his first pair of football boots, which were £2.49 from Woolworths.

He knows some kids’ parents couldn’t spare the time or money to take them all over the place to play matches, which is why my Colin used to pick up around eight kids and drive them to games in our estate car, which I’m sure would be illegal now.

And he knows any child deserves to have the same chances as everyone else.

I’m really proud of our Robert. But I don’t want him to read this and get a big head. So I’ll add that I wish he’d do a lot more around the house.
