A place in the sun
Jessica Boulton’s whimsical wander through the showbiz week
SHAFTS of light pierce the clouds and illuminate the landscape in a scene that looks just heavenly.
As we brace ourselves for another wet weekend, Castle Hill in Almondbury, West Yorks, and nearby Huddersfield, were bathed in rays of sunshine.
Weather warnings are in place across the country today, with South-West England and central Scotland set to be worst hit by the heavy downpours that could bring up to three inches of rain.
On the other side of the Atlantic, huge swathes of the US are still struggling in the midst of a recordbreaking winter blast, with Texas one of the states bearing the brunt.

HOSE IN CHARGE? Alfie ready for action
FIREMAN Kevin Francis loves his job so much he has built this mock fire station in his garden.
Kevin, 49, who joined the service at 18, spent years collecting equipment including a toy engine, photos and memorabilia to display.
The attraction is a big hit with friends’ kids, especially Alfie Hardy, six. Fire engine-mad Alfie suffers from a heart defect which means a lot of time in hospital. Kevin, from Upper
Clatford, Hants, decided he deserved a treat. “Alfie’s mother said how much he loved fire engines so I thought it would be nice to let him look around. He played with equipment, slid down the pole and had a great time.”
The married dad-of-two added: “My dad loves it because he also worked in the fire services.”
There is also one feature that is especially popular with the family – a working bar from an old fire station.
