KLOPP’S LEFT SWEATING ON HENDERSON’S GROIN INJURY

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

JURGEN KLOPP has been left sweating on the seriousness of Jordan Henderson’s groin problem – as midfielder Gini Wijnaldum insisted they are not “victims” of their long injury list.

The Reds suffered the loss of yet another centrehalf when emergency defender Henderson limped away with a serious groin problem after just half an hour of Saturday’s 2-0 Merseyside derby defeat by Everton.

Anfield medics were awaiting confirmation late yesterday following scans on Henderson.

But Klopp’s concerns were over an adductor muscle injury that could keep his skipper out for at least six weeks.

It comes at a time when Liverpool have injury problems with Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez among others.

Wijnaldum (right) said: “You don’t want to feel sorry for yourself and don’t want to go into the victim role. You just want to deal bwriitnhgthitetosiatubaetitotenraennddt–ryorto a good end – even if you know that you have a lot of injuries.

“I think that’s how we should look at the situation, not be the victims but just try to turn it around.

“We have a lot of games to turn it around – if we’re going to look at the situation as victims it’s going to be worse.”

Klopp said: “It is a massive blow losing Hendo again. Massive. It makes it really difficult... but unfortunately we have got used to it now.

“So that means we have to change things but we unfortunately are used to having to change things by now, and we just try to set up again for the next game.

“As long as we have 11 players we will do that.”

Klopp confirmed after the game that medics told him Henderson’s injury “doesn’t look good”.
