Queen jab advice not quite on point

- Edited by FIONA PARKER

WHILE the majority of the population will feel assured antivirus vaccines get the Royal seal of approval, it is not right to suggest those declining are selfish,

Firstly, not everyone can have the jab due to bad side effects and other medicines that reduce efficacy of vaccines. Secondly, many are barred from them for religious reasons.

Royal members are not scientists and should remain neutral where dispensations require people to decline, and not label these people as selfish.

Reg Barrett, Southminster, Essex

I fear the Queen’s message to the nation to get vaccinated as soon as possible will fall on deaf ears.

These people refusing the jab do not deserve the freedoms that will be available when we have the virus under control. They must face the consequences for putting the rest of the nation in danger.

A Covid passport is the only answer to restrict their movements, thus protecting the rest of the sensible nation.

Roger Grant Thurnscoe, South Yorkshire

I, like many others, have to agree with the Queen. And those of us who have had the vaccine are not going to be amused if others are going to continue being selfish and spread it around, stopping those of us who have been shut away for the best part of a year having a life too.

faith and stamina to pave the way at 94, and Prince Philip at 99, then can the rest of us not be brave enough, for the sake of others, to do as they have done?

Respect to the Queen. I’m having the vaccine when it’s offered to me. I want to live for my beautiful grandchildren. End of !

Lizzie Kirby, Cambridge

Our Queen is a wonderful lady. People should listen to her.

Do they really think that she would have taken the vaccine if there was any danger?

I agree with her Majesty’s comments. It is for the benefit of the whole nation and it is going to help us on our way back to normality. God bless her Majesty. Mary Walker, Rome

What’s incredible is that it’s taken a whole year for someone to get out the message “think of others, not yourself”. It’s basic public health.

It should have been central to

government messaging right from the outset.

I love the Queen, but it’s not best to comment about thinking of others before yourself, when you sit on a fortune and, at the same time, rule a country where there’s loads of families who need food parcels.

Don’t get me wrong, I love and respect my Queen and country, but this was inappropriate.

Jane Saunders, London

I wonder if the Queen was also thinking about revealing her wealth when she stated that we “ought to think about other people rather than ourselves”? Especially considering the growing minority of her “subjects” in poverty.

Rob Murray, South Tyneside

The Queen is above politicians and does not interfere. Instead, our wonderful Queen leads by example and has done her whole life. There’s no moaning or grandstanding. And she’s always there for her people.

No celebrity or politician has ever matched her standards. Carol Ballard, via Facebook
