KLOPP’S FULL STROP

’If we miss out on the top four and a player wants to go ...I don’t want HIM’

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

JURGEN KLOPP has warned his men that anyone thinking of jumping ship should Liverpool fail to seal a Champions League place is not wanted at Anfield.

But the Reds boss believes there is not a single star in his squad with his eyes on the exit, not even Mo Salah, whose agent tweeted mysteriously after the Egyptian was hauled off during Thursday’s 1-0 defeat by Chelsea at Anfield.

Ramy Abbas Issa raised eyebrows when he tweeted a single full stop – many Kop fans interpreted that as

a dire warning about the player’s future.

But Klopp insisted his top scorer is happy. Asked if Salah was unsettled at Anfield, he said: “These kind of stories, they didn’t happen. I cannot guarantee they will never happen but these kind of discussions never happened.

“You are a striker, you get subbed, and you think you should stay on the pitch. That’s not an issue, it is just normal life. Mo is in a good mood, it is not a problem. I make the decision, the boys accept it.”

Klopp came out fighting as Liverpool’s season threatens to implode. As rumours circulated about his Liverpool future, he said that he would still be at Anfield next season and that he has the full backing of the club’s owners. And he vowed that a failure to qualify for the Champions League would threaten neither the club’s financial footing nor his ability to sign top players this summer. Speaking about the prospect of missing out on the top four, Klopp said: “If a player wants to leave because we don’t play Champions League then I don’t want him.

“If a player does not want to come to us because we don’t play Champions League next season, then I don’t want him.”

A goal from Mason Mount (above) on Thursday sentenced Liverpool (top) to a fifth consecutive Premier League home defeat.
