Poor show for royals at war

- Edited by FIONA PARKER

■ HASN’T the Queen got enough to worry about with Prince Philip in hospital with heart problems?

It’s enough that her grandson and great-grandchild are thousands of miles away in Los Angeles without having to deal with this unpleasantness.

What an embarrassing situation for the Royals to find themselves in. Her Majesty must have a very strong constitution but I feel for her as she has been a wonderful Queen, mother and grandmother.

Harry and Meghan’s TV interview with Oprah Winfrey in America didn’t do them any good at all. This country prides itself on morals and diplomacy and they have shown a distinct lack of both. Jennifer Phelps Somerton, Somerset

■ I think Meghan has shown nothing but contempt for our Royal Family right from day one. She wanted the man and the title but didn’t understand the responsibility and duties that came with him and Harry fell for it hook line and sinker.

How dare they blame our media hounding them for their decision to leave the country, then go to the US and make millions off the back of their Royal titles? The Queen is right to fight back and the nation will be right behind her.

■ What is the palace so afraid of? I find it strange that just before the Oprah interview they say they are going to investigate claims Meghan bullied staff. For only the second time in my

living memory, the Palace have got this badly wrong. There was the debacle of not coming straight back to London, or flying the flags at half mast following the death of Princess Diana, and now this.

And I thought all palace staff had to sign nondisclosure agreements? The whole thing stinks in my view. Mary Pester, Saltash, Cornwall

■ Having seen the clip of the interview, I’ll give it a miss. Our Queen is respected and admired worldwide. She’s done a wonderful job and who is Meghan to show so little respect to the Royals, who are her husband’s family after all.

Not all families get on with their in-laws but they are respectful for the sake of their partners. Will Meghan ever put anyone before herself ? What an actress!

■ I won’t be watching the Harry and Meghan interview. The previous one with Tom Bradby

didn’t show her in a very good light. I neither like nor dislike them, I just wish they’d keep out of the public eye as they said they wanted to.

Everything seems about Meghan and what she gave up to marry Harry. Not only is she estranged from most members of her own family, she has caused a rift with Harry’s family too. D Hughesdon, South London

■ I think millions will tune into the interview as some light relief from the difficulties of the past year. The whole thing is a royal soap opera and I doubt many take it seriously.

Meghan and Harry are a very privileged couple and should try to get on with people not take this adversarial stance against the Royal Family and the media. Howard Gardner

Sale, Gtr Manchester

■ This whole Harry and Meghan thing sounds like the old saying about wanting your cake and eating it. All the trappings of pomp and circumstance, then back to LaLa Land when it suits them. Eric Barton, Southampton
