GRAYSON’S ART CLUB

Channel 4, 8pm

-

Grayson and Philippa Perry have done a good job in bringing art to the masses with this series, opening up people’s minds to the possibility that there’s an artist in all of us.

Every week has a new theme, and members of the public can contribute their creative efforts.

This time it’s food week, and the couple are joined by telly presenter Sue Perkins, who crafts an unusual work of art.

The Masked Singer revealed that

Sue can certainly hold a note, so perhaps she’s a secret artist, too.

Grayson also talks to Rose Wylie, who became a star of the art world in her 70s.

Then there’s a peek inside the studio of Lucy Sparrow, who uses felt to create colourful replicas of everyday food items.

Comedian Mawaan Rizwan makes his own piece of food-related art.

And since it’s food week, it is only right that the special guest is Nigella Lawson, who helps to choose a favourite from the public’s efforts.

THE Chinese Olympic Committee has offered vaccine doses for participants in Tokyo this summer and the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing.

The Tokyo Olympics – postponed because of the coronavirus – have been rescheduled to start on July 23, with the Winter Olympics just over six months later.

IOC president Thomas Bach (above) revealed: “The IOC has received a kind offer from the Chinese Olympic Committee to make additional vaccine doses available to participants in both Tokyo and Beijing.” A British Olympic Association spokesman said: “This is welcome news for the wider Olympic movement.”

The Tokyo Games will be held amid tight health measures and the likely absence of international visitors while the IOC has urged national Olympic committees to vaccinate athletes. Bach added: “The IOC will pay for the additional doses of vaccines, not only for Olympic, but also Paralympic teams.”
