It’s more score than bore with Jose

-

TOTTENHAM have scored 102 goals in all competitions this season – so much for Jose Mourinho’s “boring” football. Some pundits thought Harry Kane would struggle to maintain his prolific output in Mourinho’s system, but 26 goals and 16 assists in domestic and European games says otherwise. This is arguably the best season of his career. And just think where Spurs might have been in the table had Gareth Bale (right) produced his scintillating current form about four months ago, when they were top of the Premier League after beating Manchester City 2-0.

For whatever reason, he did not spark until last month, which may have come too late for a top-four finish.

It’s all ifs and buts now but for what it’s worth I still think Spurs have an outside chance of doing that – and I fancy them to win the north London derby this weekend.

To get back in the Champions League, Arsenal’s eggs are all in one basket. They have to win the Europa League – and I wouldn’t discount that happening – because the top four is beyond them.

But here’s a thought. Both clubs are well-placed, after their first leg results on Thursday night, to reach the Europa League quarter-finals. Tomorrow’s game at the Emirates could yet be a dress rehearsal for the final.

CHRIS WILDER will go down as one of the all-time greats in Sheffield United’s history. Wilder (below) led them from the depths of League One to the Premier League – and although relegation looks nailed-on this season, he would have been the perfect man to bring them back up.

For everything he achieved at Bramall Lane, he deserved a great send-off from the fans, not being ushered out of the back door with football locked down.

As captain of the worst Premier League side in history who collected just 11 points in 2007-08 – Derby, I am relieved the Blades have gone past that mark. Statues have been erected outside football grounds to people who have achieved less. In years to come, I hope Sheffield United recognise Wilder’s contribution to the club’s history.

And I’m convinced he will be back, as a Premier League manager, sooner rather than later.
