CARLO: ROBIN WON’T ROME

- BY CHRIS McKENNA

CARLO ANCELOTTI has no fears the attack on Robin Olsen’s home will put him off staying at Everton.

Olsen (below), 31, is on loan at Goodison Park from Roma until the end of the season, and Toffees boss Ancelotti wants to make it a permanent signing this summer.

But Ancelotti does not believe the armed robbery at Olsen’s family home, which saw machete-wielding thugs threaten the keeper last weekend, will force him to move back to Italy.

He said: “I think he’s happy to stay. In this moment, he has to talk with his family and manage that, but I think he is happy to stay.

“He wants to stay and we want him for the next season.”

Ancelotti confirmed the club have heightened security around the players after his own home was also broken into last month.

But ahead of today’s tea-time kick-off against

Burnley, the Italian has no concerns it will be a distraction for his players.

He said: “Of course, we are really close to Robin for what happened, but I think we have to look forward.

“The club is working to keep the safety of the players at the best level they can. That’s it. Unfortunately, sometimes it can happen and we have to try to go forward from this.”

The Toffees will open contract talks with Gylfi Sigurdsson this summer.

The Iceland ace will have just 12 months remaining on his current deal at the end of the season. Sigurdsson has impressed in recent weeks after becoming more prominent in Ancelotti’s squad.

The manager added: “We are going to talk to him – if he is happy to stay, we are happy to keep him.” James Rodriguez will not feature against the Clarets today due to a calf injury and the Colombia star will also miss next weekend’s FA Cup quarter-final clash with Manchester City.
