ONLY ROM AT THE TOP FOR INTER

- SOUTHAMPTON BRIGHTON BY MIKE WALTERS 1 2

ROMELU LUKAKU netted his 25th goal of the season as INTER MILAN took another step towards the Serie A title.

The Belgium striker (above) opened the scoring from the spot as Antonio Conte’s side won 2-1 at third-bottom TORINO.

Lautaro Martinez bagged a late winner after Antonio Sanabria equalised.

It was an eighth straight win for Inter – and Conte’s assistant Cristian Stellini praised Christian Eriksen and Alexis Sanchez.

Former Spurs midfielder Eriksen and ex-Arsenal striker Sanchez came off the bench after the break.

Stellini said: “Sanchez and Eriksen changed the game. Eriksen was ready, albeit with some physical problems.

“We had prepared it this week. We knew they could be dangerous coming on as replacements.”

Conte was serving a one-match ban but was in contact with his coaches.

Stellini added: “Conte speaks always. It’s non-stop.

“We do everything to support his ideas.”

Barcelona hope to put the heat on La Liga leaders Atletico Madrid tonight by beating Huesca.

ATLETICO were held 0-0 at GETAFE and have dropped 11 points in their last eight matches.

BARCA have won seven of their last eight and can regain second spot from REAL MADRID with at least a draw. Victory would cut Atletico’s lead to four points.

Boss Ronald Koeman said: “We cannot laugh at the others, first of all we have to look at ourselves and focus on winning.

“The team is very motivated but not because of our rivals’ results – because of ourselves.”

Lionel Messi will equal Xavi’s Barca record of 767 matches in all competitions.

“The fact he is about to equal Xavi’s number of games is incredible,” said Koeman. “All the goals and trophies... everything he has done is remarkable.”
