CLARK: HATS THE WAY TO DO IT, SWANS

- Hourihane 3 BY IAN BAKER CARDIFF WATFORD BY GRAHAM THOMAS 1 2

LUTON’S Jordan Clark reckons functional Swansea have what it takes to win promotion to the Premier League – despite them again failing to impress.

City won at Kenilworth Road thanks to a third-minute goal by Conor Hourihane (above).

But although the Swans are third and have a game in hand on second-placed Watford – who they trail only on goal difference – Steve Cooper’s side have failed to hit top form lately.

They have not won by more than one goal in six weeks but have ground out 16 points in eight games. And despite them being second best at Luton, Clark believes they are an example to follow.

“They’re joint second and we probably played them off the pitch,” he said. “Can they finish in the top two? Yeah, I think so. They are a good side, they are there for a reason and the table doesn’t lie.

“Earlier in the season they were passing teams to death and scoring great goals. In the last few games they showed a different side to their game. You need that in this league.

“Fair play to them, they are adjusting to the league. They are an example to everyone, 100 per cent.”

Hourihane drilled home the only goal following a great run by Yan Dhanda. But the Hatters should have won this. They missing a string of chances – including a sitter for Clark – and were denied two clear penalties.

Clark said: “We can take a lot of confidence from this performance. We just need to believe in ourselves a bit more.”
