We’d rather a roasting than parallel park

TWO-thirds of motorists think parking is the worst part of being on the road.

Most drivers say getting kids ready for school or a ticking off from the boss are easier to handle than a tricky parking space.

Four in 10 admitted not going somewhere because parking was a headache.

One in 10 has made their other half get the car into a space for them.

Around the same amount have had a prang while trying to park.

While one in five has parked illegally because it was the easiest option.

Richard Evans, at webuyanyca­r.com, behind the poll of 2,000 motorists, said: “Parking makes us break a real sweat.”

THE families of missing fishermen have been told three bodies have been found along the coast.

Fishing vessel the Nicola Faith sailed from Conwy, North Wales, on January 27 but never returned.

Carl McGrath, 34, Ross Ballantine 39, and Alan Minard, 20, were on board.

The bodies were found near Wirral and Blackpool.

North Wales police said: “We await postmortem­s.”

The boat’s life raft was earlier found off Kirkcudbri­ghtshire, Scotland.

THE Duchess of Cambridge’s sister Pippa Middleton has given birth to her second child, a girl.

Grace Elizabeth Jane Matthews was born at around 4.20am yesterday, weighing 6lbs 7oz.

Pippa, 37, and husband James Matthews, 45, have a two-year-old son, Arthur.

A family spokesman said: “Mother and baby are doing well.”

The baby will be cousin to Kate’s children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

THE Department of Transport will be opening offices in two cities by 2025, creating 650 jobs.

It will have hubs in Leeds and Birmingham as well as its existing headquarte­rs in Westminste­r.

The Government is trying to move 22,000 civil service posts, including half of senior roles, out of London by 2030.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said: “Having hubs in major cities like Birmingham and Leeds will offer a fresh perspectiv­e on how we can better serve these areas.”

Earlier this month Chancellor Rishi Sunak announced the UK’s first infrastruc­ture bank will be in Leeds and that Darlington, Co Durham, will be the home of a new Treasury campus.
