Mo: We’re a different side to one that lost in Kiev.. we’re full of winners.. and you’ve lost your key men

CITY FACE VILLA AFTER CHELSEA FA CUP CLASH

- BY DAVID MADDOCK @MaddockMirror

MANCHESTER CITY could be one step closer to the Quadruple when they visit Aston Villa in the Premier League next month.

Pep Guardiola’s side side will go to Villa on Wednesday April 21 in the new re-arranged League fixtures, having faced Chelsea in the FA Cup semifinal at Wembley the previous Saturday.

MO SALAH has warned Real Madrid they are about to face a very different Liverpool side to the one they defeated in the 2018 Champions League final.

The pair meet again next Tuesday in the quarter-final of this season’s competition, and the Egypt international was bullish about the clash, despite Liverpool’s bitterly disappointing campaign.

The Kop forward believes that, despite their struggles in recent months in the Premier League, Liverpool are proven winners while Madrid have lost many of their top stars.

Asked what is different about this Liverpool side, Salah said: “Since we lost in the 2018 final we’ve won the Premier League and the Champions League. We’re winners. That’s a big change.”

He pointed out that Madrid are now without Cristiano Ronaldo (with Salah, above right), and Gareth Bale, who scored twice in that final (top

“At the same time, they’ve signed Eden Hazard (right). Eden’s been unlucky, he’s been injured. But it’s a different team.

“This team has great players but they’ve lost Ronaldo’s goals.

“All I can say is that they’re in the quarters now, and I’m sure they’re prepared and we are ready to face them.”

The 28-year-old laughed when asked if revenge was on the menu, and tried to remain diplomatic, though he couldn’t resist a gentle reminder that he will be inspired. “Let’s just say that I have special motivation to win the tie and go through to the semi-finals,” he added. “What’s going to happen now isn’t going to change the result of the final in Kiev. That’s in the past.”

He added: “That game is in the past, so I don’t think about it. I’m thinking about the team. Everyone is focused on their team and everyone wants to get to the semi-finals.”

Salah was also asked about his relationship with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after recent friction over his playing time but he said that they remain on good terms.

“It’s a normal relationship between two professionals. That’s how I’d describe it,” the Egyptian star said.
