MY LITTLE LIFESAVER
Heroic pet pooch Star fights off knifeman

A DOG owner says her pooch saved her life by biting a mugger who was holding a knife to her throat.
Amy Edmondson, 30, says she was taking her beloved pet Star for a latenight walk when a man and a woman asked her for directions.
But when Amy turned to point the right way, the man jumped on her back and wrestled her to the ground, holding a knife to her throat.
Amy said she feared for her life and that son Riley, nine, would be left without a mum.
After letting go of Star’s lead, Amy was shocked by what her “loving little dog” did next – she launched herself at Amy’s attacker, bit his leg and held on.
Amy said the Staffordshire bull terrier/Jack Russell/pitbull cross clamped her jaws on tight.
She said: “They kept saying ‘give me your money, we need money’.
“Star saved my life. I just kept thinking, I’m going to die. I was on the floor for what felt like
forever. But then I let go of the lead and she started biting his leg. The woman ran off at that point, and the bloke was saying, ‘Get this f***ing dog off me’.
“I told him he needed to get off of me so I could get my dog off of him. After that he... panicked and ran away too.
“It was actually really out of character for her – she’s the most loving little dog usually, she would lick anyone to death.
“She got an extra big dinner and lots of extra cuddles that night.”
Amy of Southend-onSea, Essex, says she was outside her block of flats when the attackers struck at 11.30pm last Monday.
She said: “Star is my little lifesaver.
“Without her wouldn’t be here.
“She’s the most loving dog. I have never seen her like that... she was protecting me.”
