Seal should perform like a Champion

-

PUT your Seal of approval on Qipco British Champions Day.

Ascot’s great end-ofseason bonanza hosts a cracking card and I’m expecting it to have a French twist.

Most eyes will be drawn to Derby hero Adayar and Juddmonte International winner Mishriff in the Champion Stakes but I’m more interested in SEALIWAY (3.50).

Cedric Rossi’s French raider finished less than a length behind Adayar when fifth in the Arc de Triomphe two weeks ago despite being poorly positioned at the rear for much of the race.

He was travelling better than anything turning for home. This shorter 1m2f trip on easy ground will be ideal. Have 2pts each-way at 14-1.

The going might be better than it often is at this time of year but it will still be on the soft side.

That will suit ALCOHOL

FREE (3.10) in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes. She didn’t stay 1m2f in York’s Juddmonte International last time out in August but her Sussex Stakes defeat of Poetic Flare at Goodwood shows she is top-class.

With Palace Pier and Baaeed taking out a large chunk of the market, there is value to be had backing Andrew Balding’s filly (below). Have 1pt each-way at 9-1.

The likely strong pace will help CREATIVE FORCE (2.00) in the Qipco British Champions Sprint. The Godolphin ace won the Jersey Stakes over 7f at Royal Ascot earlier in the season.

He put in solid efforts in the July Cup and the Sprint Cup over 6f but he found the quick ground is those races putting too much emphasis on speed. The softer conditions tip the balance in his favour.

Have 1pt to win at

15-2.

Jump racing is starting to get going and Ffos Las stages the Potter

Group Welsh Champion Hurdle.

DIEGO DU CHARMIL (4.35) did well in hot races last season and he’s had a breathing operation over the summer. Have 1pt each-way at 10-1.
