JUST NO HEND TO MO’S TALENT

-

JORDAN HENDERSON is running out of superlatives for Mo Salah but hopes the striker keeps producing his breathtaking form.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are in the mix to win the title thanks to the Egyptian magician, who inspired the five-goal drubbing of Manchester United (above).

Salah has scored in 10 consecutive games with Burnley the only team to somehow shackle the Reds superstar this term.

He has 15 goals in 12 games and on Sunday became the first player since Brazil’s Ronaldo in 2003 to score a hat-trick for the visiting side at Old Trafford.

When asked about Salah’s form skipper Henderson (below) said: “Incredible. He is a special player.

“Hopefully he can stay in this run for a long, long time and keep scoring goals, keep working hard for the team and keep playing the way he is.”

Defender Virgil van Dijk echoed Henderson’s views in an Twitter post (below). Now Salah’s contract is the hot topic, with his current deal expiring in 2023.

And the club’s owners, FSG, will be under huge pressure to deliver whatever he wants.

Liverpool will have to contend without Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita during the Africa Cup on Nations which starts on January 9.

But, owing to the FA Cup schedule, they could get away with losing the three stars for just two league games against Brentford and Crystal Palace. A more pressing concern with Keita is the injury he suffered in Paul Pogba’s red-card challenge.

He took a nasty blow to the shin and Liverpool will learn the extent of the injury today. They will also be awaiting news on the fitness of James Milner, who came off with a hamstring injury.

Fabinho missed the game through injury, with Harvey Elliott a long-term absentee, meaning the

Reds’ midfield options are dwindling. Alex OxladeChamberlain will be desperate to impress and could start in tomorrow night’s Carabao Cup clash at Preston. He may then be needed for the visit of Brighton on Saturday if Keita, Milner and Fabinho are not ready.

The Reds will go into the game looking to keep on the tails of leaders Chelsea and ahead of champions

Manchester City.
