Victims’ mum calls killer ‘obnoxious’ as he gets 35yrs in jail
THE mum of two sisters stabbed in a satanic pact branded their teenage murderer “an obnoxious human” as he was jailed for life yesterday.
Remorseless Danyal Hussein, 19, turned away as he was given a minimum 35-year sentence at the Old Bailey.
The court heard he killed Bibaa Henry, 46, and Nicole Smallman, 27, in a North London park in June last year as part of a violent campaign against women which he believed would win him a £321million lottery prize. Police tracked him down through DNA and uncovered a handwritten pledge – signed in blood – to a demonic entity to kill six women every six months.
Speaking outside court, mum Mina Smallman said “justice has been done” for her “beautiful, beautiful girls”.
Hussein declined to give evidence, saying he was not responsible for the killings or pact.
He appeared by video link yesterday from Belmarsh jail having been previously found guilty of two counts of murder and knife possession.
Mrs Justice Whipple told him: “You found these two women. You were a stranger to them. You surprised them, you terrified them and killed them.” She said he hid the bodies and posed them in an embrace to “defile” them, adding: “You did it for money and a misguided pursuit of power.”
Mrs Smallman called his behaviour in court “all a performance”, adding: “There is nothing wrong with him. He’s just an obnoxious human being. He is a broken human being who, if he had not been caught, four other families may have suffered what we have. I think he is so deluded, come 35 years time they will not let him out. I will not let them.”
She called for a review of the law after Hussein was not given a whole life order due to his youth. He bought knives and a balaclava then stalked his victims as they celebrated Bibaa’s birthday in Fryent Country Park, Wembley. Hussein stabbed her eight times, and Nicole 28 times as she fought back.
He dragged the bodies to bushes where they lay for 36 hours. Over 10 days, he spent £162 on fruitless lottery tickets and bets.
Relatives reported the pair missing, but officers were not deployed to the park until after Nicole’s boyfriend found the bodies. Hussein came to police attention at 15 over fears he could be radicalised. The police watchdog found the Met’s level of service when the sisters went
missing was “below standard”.
