You were taken so cruelly & dumped like you were nothing... Our family is broken

CODIE-MARIE SHAW PAYS TRIBUTE TO DAWN WALKER IN FACEBOOK MESSAGE

THE BODY of a newlywed woman was found dumped in a suitcase hidden in bushes on Halloween.

Detectives were alerted by a mystery caller who came across the suitcase in an alleyway between two houses.

It is believed the victim, who has been named locally as Dawn Walker, had only got married last Wednesday to her partner, a scrap dealer.

On Facebook her partner of two years professed his love, telling his fiancee: “Love you too babe more than words could ever say” and “your my very special queen”.

West Yorkshire Police were called to reports of the find in Halifax at 4.38pm on Sunday.

The force said a 45-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of murder and he remains in custody. Officers are not seeking any further suspects in connection with the death.

Facebook user Lisa Walker posted a picture of Dawn and asked: “My beautiful sister. Why?”

Codie-Marie Shaw, who is believed to be Dawn’s daughter, wrote on Facebook: “I’m still trying to figure out if I’m dreaming or not.

“You were taken away so cruelly and just dumped like you were worth nothing, Our family is broken and torn apart because of someone’s selfish and disgusting actions.”

A close friend said that Dawn was a kind, caring and friendly woman who helped people in need. “She got married on Wednesday and died on Sunday morning,” she said.

“Dawn was sound. She was friendly and generous. She once paid for a disabled man’s shopping when he was short.”

Detective Insp Amanda Wimbles, of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, said: “Our inquiries into this incident are still at an early stage and we are particularly keen to speak with the person who initially called us to make the report as they have not yet identified themselves to us.”

Forensics officers were still working at the scene yesterday with the alley between the houses, which leads to a field, sealed off.
