LAGE: RAUL SET TO RULE AGAIN

- BY JAMES NURSEY

RAUL JIMENEZ has been tipped to have “a great season” by Wolves boss Bruno Lage after rediscovering top form following his injury hell.

Jimenez scored his first goal at Molineux since his fractured skull a year ago in a man-of-the-match display in last Monday’s victory over Everton.

The Mexico international’s display against the Toffees was reminiscent of the kind of form which saw him net 48 goals before the serious head injury, which required emergency surgery.

Wolves boss Lage said: “The way he works since the injury, and the way he has worked since the first day training with us, I saw a big motivation to have a great season.

“In the first games, he didn’t score goals or create too many chances.

“But the main thing from my side was to give him confidence because Raul is giving more than goals.

“For our goal against Everton, Raul smelled the goal and he scored.

“This is the good thing Raul can give to us, and why he is so important to a team who want to do a high press, like we were. “He understands he needs to work in the defensive way, the way he works in the offensive way.”

Wolves yesterday confirmed Max Kilman has signed a new long-term contract until 2026. Wanderers are expected to target Lille pair Sven Botman and Renato Sanches in January.

They are also hopeful of completing the permanent signing of Hwang Hee-chan (left) when the transfer window reopens.

The South Korea forward signed on a season-long loan from German club RB Leipzig in the summer, with an option to buy him permanently for around £14million. Hwang has now scored four goals for Wolves and impressed again in the win over Everton.

Lage added: “Hwang is happy here and the club is happy with him.”
