MOYES IN NO RUSH TO CASH A BIG CZECH

- BY JON WEST

DAVID MOYES is already benefitting from an expensive new addition now billionaire Daniel Kretinsky has joined the West Ham board.

The Czech (below) shelled out around £180million to secure a 27 percent stake from co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold.

And straight away Hammers boss Moyes felt a morale-boosting impact. He said: “It’s great – we got a new coffee machine the other day! I had a chance to meet Daniel for five minutes after the game against

Liverpool and look forward to working with him. It looks and feels like a good move for West Ham.” Hammers fans are hoping the new man’s financial clout will see top-drawer new signings arriving at London Stadium. But Moyes was cautious on the subject.

He said: “The club spent a fortune a few years ago and it didn’t go right. It is always too easy just to say it will be for players. “Maybe in the future it will be but we’ve got to watch we don’t do something we regret.” The Hammers travel to Wolves today, third in the Premier League thanks to a 3-2 win over Liverpool before the international break. But Angelo Ogbonna suffered a season-ending cruciate ligament injury in that game. Moyes (left) admitted he was contemplating bringing in another centre-back in January, and said: “It depends on how we go. We have been able to rotate our central defenders and that will not happen as much now we only have three.” Jesse Lingard enjoyed a loan spell at West Ham last season and seems set to leave Manchester United in the summer. But Moyes was cautious about a reunion. He added: “Maybe the team has moved on.”
