MATT CLARKE has called on West Brom to show they are still one of the top teams in the Championship.

The Baggies remain third but are in danger of being cut adrift of the automatic promotion places following their fourth successive away defeat.

To make things worse, Jake Livermore (right) was given a straight red card for a high challenge on Fraizer Campbell with the club set to study the footage before deciding whether to launch an appeal.

Defender Clarke, who glanced a header wide late on, says the team are failing to live up to their own expectations.

He said: “There’s no pressure from outside but we do put pressure on ourselves.

“We want to be the best team in the league and we have to go out and prove it.

“We are falling just short but we are doing all we can to figure out solutions and prove we are one of the best in the League.” West Brom tomorrow visit a Blackpool side that has taken two points from three games. And Clarke (below) has challenged the Baggies to pull themselves together as they seek their first away win since 28 September. He said: “There’s no time to feel sorry for ourselves, just dust ourselves down and learn from it.” Huddersfield moved within a point of the play-offs thanks to Danel Sinani’s early goal. It was reward for a fine team performance with Lewis O’Brien outstanding in midfield, assisted by Scott High. High has been at the club since he was eight and it was his pass that dissected the Baggies defence in the build-up to the sixth-minute goal.

Up next is a trip to QPR on Wednesday with the west London team, unbeaten in four Championship contests, one point and one place ahead of the Terriers.

High is confident Town can reach the play-offs.

“It is a really good squad in the changing room at the minute and everyone is on the right wavelength and pushing for the same things,” he said.

On whether he can emulate the injured Jonathan Hogg, a mainstay of the Huddersfield midfield since 2013, he added: “If I can do that one little bit, then it would be brilliant as Hoggy is an absolute legend.

“I’ve been at Huddersfield the whole time he has been here, since the young age groups, and he is someone I look up to.”
