JUR OUT OF ORDER SAYS ANGRY ANT

- BY PAUL BROWN

ANTONIO CONTE hit back at Jurgen Klopp for his blast at Tottenham’s tactics in their 1-1 draw at Liverpool.

Rattled Reds boss Klopp slammed defensive Spurs, claiming: “I don’t like this kind of football” and moaning that he “cannot coach it”.

But rival Conte claims the German should keep his nose out of the affairs of others because it just shows he is looking for an excuse for his own failings.

The Spurs boss (top) said: “He is an intelligent person, he was frustrated after the game. But for a top coach, for every coach, it’s important after the game to be focused on yourself and not your opponent.

“Because if you focus on your opponent it means that you want to find an excuse or an alibi because your job didn’t go well or something was wrong.”

Conte joked that he only criticised his own players when they lost to Burnley in February. He added: “For a coach it’s not easy. After the game you have to try to keep a cool head. Sometimes it’s not simple. Many times this season I have been disappointed by a result, I was disappointed with myself and my players.

“When we lost against Burnley, you remember? I said I was at fault!

“Sometimes you are frustrated when you get to the end of the season and a bad result can change an important target for you.

“I have great respect for Jurgen and I know he respects me a lot. This is a good chance for him, for me also, and for all the coaches to learn that during the game you never speak about your opponent.”

Conte defended his team’s tactics at Anfield, insisting Spurs should have won the game – and Klopp (above) knew that.

He said: “My players were disappointed at the end of the game because we had the possibility to win.

“If there was a team that deserved to win, on chances created, it was Tottenham, and not Liverpool. I think Klopp understood that he gained one point, he didn’t lose two.”

Conte won the title with Chelsea but admits this season’s target is very different as Spurs must now stop Arsenal winning tomorrow’s north London derby to have any chance of a top-four finish.

He added: “We’re playing for something important – a place in the Champions League.. And for sure we know the importance to our fans of this derby. This is the first time Tottenham is playing this game in their new stadium with fans.”
