POST IMPRESSIONIST

(3.05) shaped really well when runner-up behind smart prospect Eldar Eldarov in a 1m2f novice race on Newcastle’s all-weather track last month.

The way he picked up in the closing stages having been a little outpaced when the winner went for home suggested he will love this step up in distance to 1m4f.

There’s every chance William Haggas’ hope has started off life in handicaps with a nice weight.

Have 1pt each-way at 6-1, with several bookies paying out on six places and Sky Bet stretching to seven.

ATRIUM (5.00) won with plenty up his sleeve over this course and distance early last month.

That form has worked out really well and Charlie Fellowes’ runner looks to be improving.

He was also successful on his only previous visit to Ascot when landing a novice race at this track last summer.

His come-from-behind style of racing will be perfect as there’s likely to be a fast pace on in the Britannia Stakes and he’s got a decent draw in 22.

Have 2pts each-way at 16-1, with several firms paying out on five places.

FASTNET CROWN (6.10) loves these big-field handicaps. Michael O’Callaghan’s Irish raider is pretty versatile in that he won over 6f at the Curragh last summer but went on to finish fifth in the Cambridgeshire over 1m1f later in the season.

That run was even better than it looked as he raced on the unfavoured far side.

He’s been running well in good handicaps this season and he loves to come late off a fast pace.

The blinkers he usually wears have been left off but he does respond to a change in headgear.

Have 1pt each-way at 20-1, with most bookies paying out on six places and a couple going seven.
