HARRY Maguire is off on honeymoon today, with special permission from his new gaffer to return to training a little late.

After a “fairytale” French wedding to Fern Hawkins, the Man Utd captain and his bride are set to fly to the Amalfi coast in Italy.

And Reds boss Erik ten Hag has given his blessing. A club insider said: “He does not have to return until next week even though Ten Hag wanted them in early.

“Harry always keeps in shape and was jogging with Jordan Pickford in France.”

The England star posted a photo of his £250,000 do at Chateau de Varennes in Burgundy, calling it: “A day I’ll never forget”.

Fern looked radiant in her elaborate off-the-shoulder gown with thigh split. Posting an image of the newlyweds walking handin-hand, she wrote: “I married the love of my life.”

Everton goalkeeper Pickford’s wife Megan was a bridesmaid, with Maguire’s sister Daisy, 21. The Maguires’ daughters Lillie Saint, three, and two-year-old Piper Rose were flower girls.

Not even pouring rain could dampen the spirits of guests yesterday at the 18th-century chateau.

The happy couple are understood to have written some of their own vows for the outdoor ceremony.

The men wore matching pale grey suits, and the party dined outdoors next to a huge floral display.

Maguire, 29, who earns a reputed £190,000 a week, had hired a £50,000 private jet for the party of about 30, landing in Dijon on Friday.

Fern, 27, took her own beautician and hairdresser.

The pair had exchanged vows at a register office in Crewe, Cheshire, last month to provide them with a UK marriage certificate.

But they regarded the French ceremony as their real “wedding day”.

Maguire proposed to Fern in Paris in February 2018.
