Pray for end to Trump’s ’24 bid

- FIONA PARKER Edited by

IT is vital that US prosecutors have enough evidence to lead to the banning of Donald Trump ever standing for the presidency again – because if he was to win the outcome for the whole world could be terrifying.

Almost certainly, he would stop funding to Ukraine, allowing Russia to win, and an emboldened Putin to turn on his near neighbours with NATO being drawn into the conflict. China’s stand on Taiwan could lead to invasion, North Korea’s threats to the South and Japan would intensify, and Iran could lead an assault on Israel.

If Trump was to run in 2024, his blinkered right-wing supporters would rejoice while the future of world democracy would be greatly challenged. God forbid. John Sedgwick, Tamworth, Staffs

Will the Donald at last be trumped by the American judicial system or will he instigate civil unrest as he did when the Capitol was stormed?

It’s ironic when you consider Stormy Daniels may invoke his last stand, but nobody should be above the law and the world will be watching closely.

It will be a test of the American judicial system. However, it is concerning that parallels can still be drawn with the sleaze in Westminster which is an insult to hard-working British families, albeit considered to be within the current law. Time for change?

Trump is rubbing his hands with glee. These proceedings have given him the media platform he desired. It’s like Waco all over again, but this time instead of hundreds of brainwashed cult followers, now it’s millions of Americans following a highly dangerous man.

He will go to any lengths to cause mayhem across the United States. Let’s just hope sanity prevails for the sake of not only the American people but the rest of the world. Roger Grant Thurnscoe, South Yorks

Donald Trump’s New York court appearance was like a scene from a Hollywood blockbuster played out in front of the world’s media.

The spectacle surpassed even Richard Nixon’s downfall over Watergate and Bill Clinton’s Monica Lewinsky scandal and shows American politics at its very worst. Reg Barrett, Southminster, Essex

So, Donald Trump is the first former US President to be indicted

on criminal charges. Let’s not forget we have our very own version of Trump here in the form of Boris Johnson, but it’s unlikely we’ll ever see him before a judge. How anyone is taken in by these brazen populists is baffling to me. Let’s hope they have had their day. David Fox, South London

I believe the whole world would breathe a sigh of relief if Donald Trump is barred from ever again running for the US Presidency.

Imagine a world with Trump and Putin in charge all over again. It really doesn’t bear thinking about. I long for the day when we finally see the back of this deranged megalomaniac. Rob Fair, Wakefield

What is it coming to when Putin and Trump are at the top of the news agenda?

The world is definitely going mad. I genuinely fear for all our safety if Trump was ever allowed to run for president again. Eddie Fidler, Oxford
