TV’s Beeny shares joy after breast ordeal
TV property guru Sarah Beeny yesterday revealed she has been given the all-clear from cancer.
The presenter said she felt both delighted and weird to have come through her ordeal.
Sarah, 51, appeared on ITV’s Lorraine with two of her four sons to share her good news.
After being diagnosed with breast cancer in August she had chemotherapy, radiotherapy and a double mastectomy to beat the disease.
She also decided to embrace the hair loss caused by chemotherapy, cutting off most of it prior to the treatment.
Now sporting a new bleached hairstyle, Sarah said that rather than the cancer-free declaration being a big moment, it was instead quite low-key.
She explained to presenter Christine Lampard: “It’s good but it’s weird.”
She added: “They kind of go, ‘That’s it then, that’s the end of that’.
“And you kind of go, ‘How do you know?’ and they go ‘We don’t, we just kind of think so’.” Appearing with Billy and Raffy, she added: “I’ll have to take drugs for the next 10 years and be very vigilant, but yeah, it’s been a weird ride that I wouldn’t wish on anyone else.”
“I’m glad I did it rather than somebody else.
“It’s been a bit of a rollercoaster ride. But I feel very fortunate that I had the diagnosis that I did, and that I live in 2023 and I’m the age I am.
“So many things I’m fortunate for so I feel very blessed.”
Expressing her gratitude for the support she’s received, Sarah said: “The NHS was amazing, the guys in Yeovil and the Royal Marsden were amazing.
“I can’t tell you how lovely everyone has been, it’s been overwhelming.”
The Channel 4 series Sarah Beeny’s New Life in the Country follows her and husband Graham Swift plus their sons Billy, Charlie, Raffy and Laurie, as they adapt to moving to Somerset.
They swapped London for a 220-acre, semi-derelict former dairy farm and have built a modern stately home there.
