TIGERS WILDER THAN WATFORD

- BY ROSS HEPPENSTALL

HASSANE KAMARA surveyed the wreckage of underachieving Watford’s latest defeat and admitted: It’s not good enough.

The Hornets have won just twice in nine games since Chris Wilder arrived in early March and realistically their play-off hopes are over.

A team who were in the Premier League last season now lie in the bottom half of the Championship.

Wilder lost his rag after last Wednesday ’ s 3- 1 home humiliation against Cardiff, branding his men “physically and mentally weak”.

He tried to look for the positives after Ozan Tufan’s 25th-minute penalty won the match for Hull, but Kamara saw things differently. After his 50th game for the Hornets, the 29-year-old defender said: “We deserved what we got.

“We didn’t do the right things, and although they didn’t have loads of chances, ultimately we didn’t stop them scoring so we can’t be happy.

“We wanted to show pride and come out and win the game to spark a good finish to the season. We weren’t able to do that, and it’s very disappointing for us and for the fans. It’s not been good enough.”

The rot set in long before Wilder’s arrival, with the Hornets now having won just three times in 17 league games.

The former Sheffield United and Middlesbrough boss’s shortterm deal is up at the end of the season and he looks certain to move on. For Hull, though, things are looking up after they kept their seventh clean sheet in eight games and registered back-toback home wins.

Tigers midfielder Jean Michael Seri said: “Watford are a good team, but before the game we were so confident.

“In this league, if you’re well organised you can win every game. I’m so happy for the fans who have come here to see us win because I remembe r four months ago when we lost several games in a row at home.

“But now we’re more solid and we’re keeping clean sheets. It’s something to build on and gives us confidence for next season.”

Seri tipped midfielder Harry Vaughan, 19, to continue to shine, adding: “This boy’s a real talent and could be really important for us moving forward.”
