Robins warns Coventry to keep feet on the ground

- Championship: 3pm BY BRENDAN MCLOUGHLIN

MARK ROBINS has warned his Coventry side they will be in trouble today if they get caught up in the emotion of their play-off dream.

The Sky Blues host Birmingham with their top-six hopes firmly in their own hands after just one defeat in their last 15 games. But Robins said: “There’s nothing at stake other than three points. We have to focus on Birmingham. If you look beyond it, you’re in trouble so we can’t do that.

“It’s a big game for us, there’s no getting away from that. It’s the final home game so you always want to put in a good performance anyway but don’t forget too that we’re coming up against a really decent side.”

Coventry, who scraped a 1-1 draw at Blackburn recently thanks to a late leveller from keeper Ben Wilson (below), failed to win any of their opening seven games – six of which were away – so the turnaround has been exceptional.

Robins (right) added: “We were bottom in October and not too far away from bottom going into Christmas so to be where we are now is remarkable.”

This will be the Sky Blues’ first fixture since it was confirmed their deal with the CBS

Arena has been extended for another five years. Robins added: “Now we can move forward. It gives us stability. I think there’s been a lot of work behind the scenes and thankfully they’ve got it over the line and now we can move forward in a way we anticipated we would.

“I’m really pleased and now everything else can follow on and we can get on with the football.”

Coventry’s first Championship win of the season came on October 1, against Middlesbrough, who they play in their final fixture next week.
