SUPREME COURT

Get ready for a Master class

-

LEAVE the bet365 Gold Cup to the Master.

COURT MASTER (2.15) lines up for the traditional end-of-season Sandown marathon having been off the track since picking up an injury last summer. That’s no problem for Michael Scudamore’s (below) hope as he’s got an excellent record when returning from a break.

He’s also had a breathing op since he last ran. It was the fifth time he’s had his airwaves tinkered with and he’s twice won when making his comeback after having the procedure.

His fourth in last year’s Eider Chase highlights his stamina, despite having limited chances over distances around today’s 3m5f trip, and his trainer has his team in decent form following a relatively quiet season.

He simply shouldn’t be 33-1. Have 2pts each-way with one of several bookies paying out on six places.

Earlier on the card, CELTIC ART (1.05) appears to have been laid out for the bet365 Novices’ Championship Final.

He was a useful stayer on the Flat and has taken well to hurdles. The second of his two Wincanton victories, when today’s likely favourite, Killaloan, was well beaten, has worked out very well.

The big-field should ensure a good test of stamina at this 2m distance and that will suit Jeremy Scott’s runner. He also looks well treated for his handicap debut.

Have 2pts each-way at 16-1. Most bookies are paying out on five places with Sky Bet offering six. MUMBO JUMBO (3.25) might not have hit the target yet but he’s got good form in the book since switching to fences.

His third behind Solo over this course and distance last November was a decent effort and his two subsequent runs have both come over further. There was nothing wrong with his second behind Haldon Hill at Taunton last month but he will be more at home back to this 2m4f.

This race, run in memory of former trainer and jockey Josh Gifford, should be run at a good pace. That should help Emma Lavelle’s chaser and the better ground should suit him as well. 12-1. Have 1pt each-way at
