THE stars of Escape to the Chateau have been permanently axed by Channel 4 after falling out with producers.

Dick and Angel Strawbridge will no longer work for the channel following an independent HR probe.

The pair, who starred in the hit series plus several spin-offs, have been axed by Two Rivers Media.

Former colleagues claimed that Dick, 63, and Angel, 45, clashed with the production company.

A source told the Deadline showbiz news site: “There has been a deteriorating relationship between Two Rivers and Dick and Angel’s Chateau TV for various reasons, and it all came to a head.”

Two Rivers said: “We will no longer work with Dick and Angel.”

The decision prompted Channel 4 to launch its own probe. A HR professional interviewed crew who worked with the Strawbridges as they did up 19th century Chateau de la Motte Husson in northern France.

Channel 4 said: “Following a review, we have taken the decision not to work with Dick and Angel on any new productions in the future.” The couple did not comment. The husband and wife previously parted ways with Spark Media, which launched the show in 2016.

The ninth and final series aired in December and was one of C4’s biggest shows with 2.5 million viewers.

It is thought rows erupted over budget and filming schedules.

In 2021 the couple were reported to have been abusive to crew. Their representative at the time said some claims were due to historical “tensions” with the former producers.

Jonathan Hales, who directed the final two series, said he found the pair “warm and welcoming”.
