Phil’s Morning felt tired and broken

-

■ SO, Phillip Schofield has stepped back from This Morning, a role he has had for more than 20 years. It really is a shame.

But I don’t think he had much of a choice in the matter, with all the speculation over his friendship with Holly Willoughby.

The writing was on the wall when the programme itself became the news.

Whatever has gone on behind the scenes, some of the treatment of Phil has been unkind and cruel. Whatever happened to being kind? We don’t know what the man goes through when he goes home.

I say good luck to Phil with his next venture. And after two decades on the sofa, This Morning won’t be the same without him. Marie Gosney Billingham, Co Durham

■ Thankfully, Phillip Schofield has finally gone from This Morning. Irrespective of any reported feud with his co-presenter Holly, he’s had his day, and his presenting style seemed old hat.

Let’s wish him well with whatever he does next, but also welcome changes to the show, which had become tired and in need of a shake-up.

I think it would be good to have a rolling roster of presenters rather like Good Morning Britain, which keeps things interesting for the viewers. Hopefully, things will settle down and we can get on with enjoying the show. Joanne Webster, Sheffield

■ I do feel that ITV should have axed not only Phillip Schofield but Holly Willoughby as well. These two smug presenters, who thought they were untouchable, have been over-exposed over latter years.

It’s time for a clean sweep and TV bosses should replace them with two fresh faces to present this iconic, informative morning show. Bernadette Kane Hampton, South London

■ Phillip Schofield has at last stepped down from This Morning. All the controversies around his alleged tense relations with Holly Willoughby, meant viewer numbers had dropped.

And in an industry where PR is everything, Phillip had to go.

Now at last everyone can move on and the show can get back to normal.

■ We are currently in the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, our food banks are reporting record take-ups and we have a government allowing the utility companies to amass mega profits while delivering poor service.

And outside of the UK there is a war raging in Ukraine and a civil war in Sudan.

In light of all this, the Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby This Morning saga is insignificant. J R Williams, East London

■ I’m really upset that Phillip Schofield has quit. I, for one, have stopped watching the show.

Holly has turned into a diva and I can’t bear to watch it when Rochelle Humes is on.

It’s a definite goodbye from me – there are lots of other channels that I can watch.

Annie Nash, Cardiff

■ I think the Holly and Phil row can be traced back to the queue-gate scandal, when the pair were caught jumping the queue to pay their respects to our late Queen.

They should have been more like David Beckham, who stood in line with everyone else.
