King is lucky he’s treated so quickly

- Edited by FIONA PARKER

■ In response to your front page Brave Face of the King (Feb 7), I’m sure everyone will join me in wishing His Majesty a speedy and full recovery, as we would anyone who is diagnosed with this dreadful illness.

The fact remains, however, that while many others are diagnosed with cancer each day, in many cases it is too late for effective treatment due to the lengthy waiting time to obtain an appointment with a GP, let alone a consultant oncologist.

The prompt medical attention from the finest physicians given to the King only serves to illustrate the great health inequalities suffered by those who could not hope to use the expensive and luxurious facilities offered by the London Clinic.

■ Although I wish him well, the King recently being diagnosed with cancer and starting his treatment so quickly is sadly not the reality for many people.

My dad was diagnosed with cancer in March 2023 and his treatment didn’t start until July. Sadly, he passed away last September.

No one, especially a worried 75-year-old man like my dad should have to go through this alone. King Charles will not have to face such an indignity.

■ Most of us have experienced family problems in our lives and understand the effect they can have on your health. King Charles, now being treated for cancer, has had to cope with many such issues while coming to terms with the taxing duties of becoming the monarch following the death of his beloved mother, the Queen.

Also, hopefully, there will be an apology from Prince Harry and a welcome reunion.

■ It’s not even a year since the Coronation so this is the last thing King Charles would have wanted. Let’s hope he makes a full recovery and he can return to royal duties as soon as possible.

Having said that, let’s not forget all the ordinary people suffering from this awful disease who aren’t as fortunate to be diagnosed and begin treatment so quickly.

■ I was shocked to hear King Charles has been diagnosed with some form of cancer. No doubt his family will rally round him at this trying time.

Royals or not, at the end of the day they are just like anyone when it comes to receiving news like this. And Harry has come over to see his father – he will want to make sure he is OK.

■ It has been revealed the King has cancer, discovered after being treated for an enlarged prostate. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone but he has been able to start his treatment very quickly. It’s a pity about the many ordinary people in the same situation stuck on waiting lists before treatment.

■ Best wishes to a wonderful King who has done more through his trust than many recognise. He never wants praise and has shared this difficult and personal cancer diagnosis to help others.
